Ayurveda is the Veda of Ayusha. Ayusha means long life, life, eternal life. The Vedas are a great line of instruction that gives the knowledge needed to get rid of the bad and embrace the good. That is, Ayurveda is a set of advanced guidelines that help you live longer.
The aim of any medical science is to preserve the health of the people and control disease. But Ayurvedic medicine has a much broader purpose. That is to preserve the health of the individual and control the disease as Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha Purushartha takes place. Here dharma means paying according to dharma. Artha means acquiring wealth in a fair manner. Kama is the gratification of the senses with the well-earned wealth. Moksha means to live a happy life in this world and go to bliss after death. Thus, it appears that Ayurvedic philosophy has explained the way to live a healthy life in this world as well as the way to happiness in the hereafter.
Ayurvedic daily routines
A routine is a set of actions to be followed on a daily basis. Here in Ayurveda, a day is considered to be the period from sunrise of the previous day to sunrise of the following day.
- Waking up in the morning
Make it a habit to wake up at a specific time every morning. The best time for this is “Brahma Muhurta”. Brahma means great and muhurta means time. Accordingly Brahma Muhurtiya is the great time. Brahma Muhurtia is considered to be the period of 48 minutes before sunrise. This is between 4.54 and 5.42 current clock time. During this period the surrounding environment is calm. Feces accumulated in the body during the night should be excreted when waking up in the morning. This natural need should not be neglected as soon as it is felt. Due to that speed, the natural process of the body is disturbed. It is unhealthy. It causes constipation, hemorrhoids, bladder stones, and urinary stones. This is why it is very important to pass stool in the morning when you wake up. Then the limbs should be washed with soap.
- Cleaning the mouth between the teeth and tongue
Teeth play a very important role in digestion. Healthy and strong teeth are necessary to digest food well. Therefore, taking care of teeth and oral health is essential for a healthy life. According to Ayurveda, brushing is not only about healthy teeth and gums. Removing bad breath, cleaning the mouth by removing unnecessary phlegm, pleasing the mouth, burning hunger, appetite, and pleasing the heart.
For this, you can brush your teeth with a compound containing Ayurvedic medicines and a sharp stick or toothbrush.
How to make a tooth pick
A branch or root of a medicinal plant such as kohomba, karanda, pila, bombu, cedar, moonamal, kumbuk, castor can be used. Cut a thick branch about 8 inches long. Bite one end of it about an inch long with your teeth and brush your teeth with it. Since a strong stick is prepared daily, it keeps clean by renewing it, and it reduces tooth and gum diseases because it is easy to remove the waste stuck between the teeth and because of its medicinal properties.
When brushing teeth, brush the teeth carefully, and when rinsing the mouth, wash the upper gums downwards and the lower gums upward. The tongue should also be washed and cleaned in the middle of the throat.
